November Recap: A Foundation of Humanity

This November, we embraced the theme of humanity, inspired by the African philosophy of Ubuntu, which reflects the interconnectedness of all people. It was a month of grounding ourselves in the shared qualities that unite us—love, compassion, creativity, and connection. Building on the momentum and courage from October, we focused on embodying humanity and weaving it into the foundation of Solid Space.

Within our team, we witnessed incredible growth. Our bonds strengthened, our skills expanded, and we found new depths of creativity. November was also a time of curiosity as we experimented with how we curate events, letting the community guide us. With just two events, we explored the ways humanity can take form through storytelling, healing, and artistry.

Storyteller’s Sanctuary: Humanity in Every Story

On November 8th, we welcomed the return of Storyteller’s Sanctuary, a night that highlighted the beauty of connection through words, music, and vulnerability. The evening featured powerful performances from five remarkable artists: CAYRICO, whose smooth flow and easygoing stage presence captivated the audience; Beth Million, who lit up the night with her stunning voice and intoxicating energy; Afi El, offering thought-provoking wisdom that lingered in the air; Child of Nines, commanding the room with mesmerizing poetry, her deeply resonant words leaving the audience hanging on to each syllable; and Tee, whose empowering, soulful poetry moved the crowd and provided fresh perspectives.

Domia’s stunning photography brightened the space, capturing the energy and essence of the night, while the open mic invited heartfelt stories and performances from the community. Guided by our charismatic host, Eric, and the sounds of our resident DJ, the event embodied what Solid Space stands for: creating a sanctuary where humanity thrives.

Aura Night: A Healing Celebration

On November 29th, we closed the month with Aura Night, a transformative evening of wonder, healing, and connection. In collaboration with Jenna, Inglewood native and founder of Lune Souleil, we transformed the space into a lounge and wellness experience, featuring a nighttime vendor market filled with unique artisans.

The night included Tida’s tattoo artistry, Domia’s captivating photo booth—raising funds for an elementary school while capturing beautiful moments—and Saalihah’s intentional, handmade jewelry. Jamie, our reiki practitioner, brought warmth and healing to attendees, while Ty showcased his creative prints and self-published books, radiating authenticity and artistry. Menal brought an unmatched experience with her Ethiopian coffee, offering every guest a moment of cultural immersion and connection, while Amir's homemade samosas and chai tea brought much needed sustenance and warmth to the attendees. What's more, Jenna herself not only curated the night but also offered holistic goods and tarot readings, infusing her unique energy throughout the event!

The highlight of the evening was Jenna’s transformative sound bath performance, which created an atmosphere of healing and elevated energy. Med, our host, followed with two soulful a cappella songs from his recently released mixtape 'Angel Baby' and finally closed the night with a charged DJ set that filled the space with joy and connection. Supported the Solid Space team, the night was a testament to the power of community and the humanity we strive to embody.

Looking Ahead

As we transition into December, we reflect on gratitude, release, and the beauty of the winter solstice. December is a time for embracing the end of the year with intention, while preparing for the journey ahead. This month’s theme, reflection, will focus on letting go of what no longer serves us and celebrating the possibilities of the new year.
